This Area of Interest will provide information and resources for
individuals involved with remediation projects that will have a
significant future lifespan, such as ground water extraction and
treatment systems, natural attenuation remedies, long-term soil
vapor extraction systems, and landfills subject to long-term
monitoring.
A major
emphasis will be on evaluation and optimization of site
operations to maintain site protectiveness and reduce long-term
monitoring and operation costs. Other topics will include
operational issues, data management, regulatory requirements,
exit strategies, CERCLA Five-Year Reviews, Remedial System
Evaluations (RSEs) and similar optimization processes, and other
long-term management and optimization approaches.
